LIVE MUSIC | VISUALS | DJs | INSTALLATIONS | WORKSHOPS
NightGarden invites intergenerational audiences on a magical journey from day to night, with a dynamic live programme that breathes life into the forest from 2pm until 2am.
At the heart of the experience is our Decagon Stage nestled in the forest glade, where cutting-edge projection mapping and high-end audio create an immersive backdrop for an eclectic mix of live music and visual performances spanning electronic, jazz, and psychedelic genres.
A captivating network of sculpture trails will weave through the forest, integrating lighting, sound, and responsive design to enhance the natural surroundings of our botanical ex-garden centre.
Workshops will be included to get hands on or quieter pop-up performances will emerge in amongst the foliage. We're crafting an interactive "choose-your-own-adventure" that encourages exploration, play, and pure joy.
The site takes a collective pause for a nutritious dinner (included in your ticket) before night falls.
A magical dusk procession sets the tone for the evening programming of live acts where dancing and self-expression is encouraged, alongside DJ sets at our second stage.

OUR STORY SO FAR...
NightGarden is an immersive celebration of audiovisual delights. Set in the industrial hinterlands of Greater Manchester on an ex-garden centre, the festival presents a programme of eclectic sonic and visual artists exploring themes of biodiversity, human resilience and radical futures.
The first edition of Nightgarden was launched in 2021, and has since grown organically from 50 to 250 participants by its fourth edition last year. We have programmed over 70 sculptural and interactive installations, live performances and workshops from the likes of outsider pop artists Stealing Sheep, nature-sourced electronic musician Wildforms, live analogue VJ hellocatfood, post-internet video artist Mishka Henner, light sculptor Jenny McNamara and landscape storyteller Lotte Djikstra.
More than a one-day event, this project has become a live testbed for interdisciplinary working. There’s a focus on inclusive and multi-generational co-creation with our core-team and over 40 volunteers. Our ongoing ambition of fostering a healthy commercial and organisational model, meaning ecosystems of people, money, power and time, echoes the curatorial interest in ecologies which underpins NightGarden.
